Man of My Word

The pharisees of Jesus day had craftiness in speech down to a fine art, but our Lord was quick to let them know he did not approve. Though it may take a different form in our day, we too are guilty of cunning & evasive speech – perhaps more than we realise. Whether it’s making promises we don’t intend to keep, irreverently swearing oaths in the name of God or being cunning with our speech to suit our own ends, James reminds us that instead we ought to be known as people of our word.
